World Library Of Science is an open online teaching/learning portal combining high quality educational articles authored by editors at NPG with technology-based community features to fuel a global exchange of scientific insights, teaching practices, and study resources. World Library Of Science currently contains articles in the field of genetics, and is intended for college undergraduate faculty and students. Future plans involve extension of World Library Of Science to other fields within the life sciences, as well as to other audiences.

The World Library of Science wants to especially support students in underdeveloped regions by equalizing learning opportunities, improving the quality of teaching and learning and promoting the use of Open Educational Resources. At launch the World Library of Science features over 300 articles, 25 eBooks, and over 70 videos from the publishers of Nature. Through the portal students can join classes and create groups to connect with other learners and teachers.

There is a variety of opinions in the media these days regarding online learning. Depending on what you read, online education can appear to be either a cure-all or cancer.

1) Online learning is here to stay. 2) There is no significant difference in learning outcomes. 3) Online learning is widespread. 4) There is no single form of online learning. 5) MOOCs are not an example of high-quality online learning. 6) Online learning is well-suited to adult learners, but not necessarily traditional-aged students. 7) “Institutional” cost savings from going online are less than is often acknowledged. 8) Online learning could soon become the norm for “post-traditional” and graduate students who cannot afford the opportunity cost of traditional programs.

Su simplicidad y la claridad de la interface, permite que en sólo unos minutos ya puedas comenzar a crear tu primera pizarra web interactiva. Además te ofrece la posibilidad de elegir algunos diseños preestablecidos, como por ejemplo un ambiente para crear prototipos de sitios web, lluvia de ideas, agenda, entre otros. Por supuesto tienes herramientas de dibujo, de texto y puedes incorporar documentos en varios formatos, que puedes utilizar como base para la discusión con tus alumnos. Si tienes documentos en Google Drive, entonces te será muy fácil dar inicio a tu primera clase virtual con esta herramienta. También tiene una ventana con chat, en caso de que quieras trabajar con tus alumnos en tiempo real, bueno por algo se llama Realtimeboard. Si navegas con Chrome, entonces tendrás la posibilidad de trabajar con una extensión que te permitirá simplemente arrastrar los documentos de tu computador a la pizarra. Tienes una cuenta en Google o en Facebook, bueno entonces en sólo unos segundos ya podrás estar probando esta fantástica aplicación web.
