Being a special education teacher I agree with this article by Jake Miller. He shared many tips that even I make sure that I use in the classroom for my students. I believe that general education teachers should view this article to make sure that students are getting the support they need even when they are learning virtaully. This year has been a crazy year and we have to treat our kiddos the same as if they were in class. Providing them the accommodations and making sure they have the designated supports.

Many of these students need individual, in-person attention due to their disabilities. However, when schools are closed, those services stop.

I agree. As an administrator we are starting to prepare as well for what the winter months may bring with this pandemic. As we just went back to school after a 2 week vacation, we have seen a spike in cases. We must make plans to be able to accommodate each learner. These plans include creating individualized lesson plans to meet the needs of children with special needs. We must strategize to see what the best and most effective ways are to provide equal opportunities for learning. Providing an open communication with families is a HUGE factor in making the learning experience
