Hypertext Markup Language 5 is the latest and robust version of the HTML standard. It is a highly advanced system of structuring and presenting content on the web. Its original purpose was to design websites that work across a wide array of devices. As learning methodologies took the digital route, HTML5 came to be of great use in developing responsive courses as well. Since HTML5 supports rich media, immersive graphics, interactions, and works well on mobile devices, it is ideal to be used for e-learning development. It has the inbuilt capability to play audio and video, without the need for external plugins.

Slides has released some interesting new features for its good web-based presentation service. The first one is the ability to show a presentation to an unlimited audience of viewers, who can see your slide changes in sync with you, and without having to download or install anything. The second one is a new speaker note facility that allows the presenter to see not only the slide being shown, but also the next one, alongside two timers, one for the time gone and one for the actual clock time. The entry of rapid authoring tools brought a change in the way e-learning courses are designed. They enable the quick creation of courses and are user-friendly. They support the HTML5 code, which means functionality on modern browsers and the ability to run courses on mobiles. Prior to their launch, Flash was popular owing to its features that helped produce visually-rich courses with stunning animations and complex interactivities. However, the inability of Flash to match up to rapid authoring tools and the announcement by Adobe to phase out Flash by the end of 2020 have urged organizations to convert Flash courses to HTML5. Veremos cómo integrar este juego en varios gestores de contenidos (CMS) y herramientas de blogging. Intérêt : une sortir html5, compatible tablettes et smartphone Difficulté : mise en oeuvre plus complexe qu'Images Actives, qui est toujours téléchargeable.

Snaplive is an up and coming free, open-source CMS which allows any publisher to edit the contents of its web site directly on the page, without needing to log in to a backend system. Snaplive works perfectly with WordPress and with the existing theme you are using and not only provides editing functions but it also allows you to add / create new content sections very easily. "Virtually ANY existing website or theme can become a Snaplive-powered editable website in a matter of minutes. All you need to do is add an HTML5 attribute to the div that will contain editable content." My comment: I haven't tried Snaplive but the video is quite self-explanatory. While not the first system that attempts to provide in-line, on-the-page content editing and creation, the fact that that is free and open-source, that it can work with most any existing web sites and with any WordPress theme makes it very interesting for many a web publisher. If installing and configuring is as easy as it is promised, then this could be a godsend both for many website designers as well as for their clients. My compliments to Niccolò Broggi for designing such a cool, elegant and useful tool. Currently in private alpha.
