Collaborative interactive project management tools: a visual way to identify and progress tasks

Collaborative interactive project management tools: a visual way to identify and progress tasks | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
In order for a group project to succeed you need to be organised. It’s important to know what stages make up the workflow that will ensure you complete the project, and who is responsible for what. One approach which has been used by many over the years is KanBan boards. Typically a white board or wall space is used along with some coloured tape to divide the space into columns (progress) and rows or ‘swim lanes’ to seperate individual or teams sharing the same board. Post-its were then used to write individual tasks. These could be moved along as the task progresses.

Two design models for online collaborative learning: same or different?

Two design models for online collaborative learning: same or different? | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
Here I am looking at the work of two separate and important Canadian theorists and practitioners, what we might call the Toronto school, Linda Harasim and her former colleagues at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) in Toronto (although Linda has been firmly based for 25 years at SFU in Vancouver/Burnaby), and the Alberta school, Randy Garrison, and colleagues Terry Anderson and Walter Archer. However, they are not the only contributors to the design of online collaborative learning, as the following post makes clear.

Perhaps more importantly, I believe that online collaborative learning is a key model for teaching the knowledge and skills needed in a digital age. So here’s my first draft:

Gruveo is a secure and free web app which allows you to easily start a video-conference session with anyone without needing to register, download, install or login anything.

To start a video session you simply input a numeric code (of three or more digits) of your choice on the Gruveo home page and then communicate that code to anyone you want to video call. That's it. Your computer and the other device will automatically create a direct connection allowing your video conversation to start instantly.

An excellent solution for instant video calls that require zero set-up time and which may benefit from secure encrypted communication and anonymity.

Free to use.

New Google Docs Workflow Streamlines Collaboration for College Students

New Google Docs Workflow Streamlines Collaboration for College Students | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
About 60 percent of today’s college students are using their smartphones to study, and that is largely thanks to the wide variety of apps they can make use of.

College students are regularly using tools like Google Docs on their mobile devices because the cloud technology makes it just as easy to work on a smartphone as it is to use a computer.

Now, thanks to an update, a new Google Docs workflow will make it even easier for students and professors to use the cloud-based tool in their classes.
