10 Important Tips from Stephen King to Help You Become A Better Writer | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it

In today's post I am revisiting this visual we published in the past which features some important tips to help you become a better writer. These tips are collected from Stephen King's book  ‘On Writing: A Memoire of The Craft’ (contains Amazon affiliate link). They (tips) are less about writing mechanics and more about developing a writer's mindset. Stephen King's nuggets of wisdom are a culmination of his writing career which has spanned more than 2 decades and has resulted in numerous prestigious awards and blockbuster fiction publications.

10 Brilliant Examples of How to Start a Blog Post

10 Brilliant Examples of How to Start a Blog Post | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
With respect, I must disagree with Mr. Zinsser. We all know the most important part of any article is the title. Without a compelling title, your reader won’t even get to the first sentence. After the title, however, the first few sentences of your article are certainly the most important part.

Journalists call this critical, introductory section the “lede,” and when properly executed, it’s the bridge that carries your reader from an attention-grabbing headline to the body of your blog post.

You may even approach a visual fashioner to make for you a banner ad design, which you will have the capacity to alter independently from anyone else. In the event that you wish, you may include your own particular pictures and content. You simply need to share your requests about the banner ad design with the expert planner and he will make for you a format which might be a guide for your future work on it. In the event that you are not ready to make your standard advertisement outline alone however you can essentially complete the work, you may request this administration. The format, which the website specialist will give, will just give you the arrangement for the standard promotion plan. Later you should embed your own particular content and different substance into the banner ad design.

Helpful Academic Writing Guides for Student Researchers

Helpful Academic Writing Guides for Student Researchers | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
The theme of this week’s book collection is academic writing and to this end I curated for you this useful list. I am principally addressing research students and academics but the insights and tips from these books are also relevant to anyone keen on improving their writing style. As a research student, you get to do a lot of writing and usually across different genres, from a literature review to writing a research grant proposal. Each of these writing projects call for a specific set of skills and involve different practices and stylistics (in the popular sense of the word not the linguistic one). And because nobody of us is born a good writer, it takes so much practice to better your writing style and even much more practice when it comes to academic writing. However, what I am talking about here is guided practice, one that draws on established guidelines and norms. In other words, if you want to learn how to write better you need to learn it from people who master the craft.
